Lviv - is the heart of the Western Ukraine, specific frontier between east and west, between orthodox and catholic religions. The city was under the rule of many empires and nations and it left a considerable mark in its culture, architecture and language. Everyone wanted to add something special, and this ensemble formed by centuries gave the city peculiar atmosphere and medieval romance.
There are so many places which are worth visiting in Lviv, so we offer the following guided tours:

Tour "Secrets of the old town"
Two hour walking tour, that includes Rynok Square and the main historical sites of the old town.
Group tour starts every Saturday at 11.00 and every Wednesday at 15.00 at Rohatyntsiv Str,30 (behind Arsenal Museum)

Unlike many other cities in Ukraine, Lviv was lucky enough to escape the terrible destruction in World War Two, and its absolutely fascinating streets and numerous museums make it one of the most exciting places in Ukraine to explore. During the tour you will explore the historic center of our fantastically eclectic city, which was included in the UNESCO World Heritage List. You will stroll down Lviv's main avenues, squares, narrow cobbled streets. The city tour starts at the Opera House, which is the first building in Europe built on a solid concrete base for the first time, then you will walk down Svoboda Avenue, which is laid out above the enclosed underground Poltva River. On your way You will have a look at historic building housing The Maria Zankovetska Drama Theatre that was once the biggest in Europe and is the oldest in Ukraine. The medieval atmosphere of Lviv will hark you back to days when Lviv was at the forefront of regional events, and it was once a wealthy trading center. You will see the oldest and most gorgeous churches and cathedrals in the Old Town including Baroque style Jesuit Cahedral, the Virgin Mary's Assumption church, the Armenian Cathedral with 16-17th century tombstones, Church of the Blessed Eucharist (former Dominican Church), the Latin Cathedral and the Transfiguration Church. Do you know that the famous writer Leopold von Sacher-Masoch, who paved a road to the term "masochism", was born in Lviv? During the tour you will see both the place where he was born and the Masoch Cafe. You will get to know more about the gas lamp invention and see the statues of the lamp invention as the first gas lamp in the world was invented in Lviv. The guide will take you to Dzyga Gallery, which is said to be an ART-terra of contemporary art for artists. Those of you interested in defense will have a chance to learn about Medieval defensive system of the city, peep into the Gunpowder Tower and Arsenal buildings. Now former arsenal hosts the only museum of weapons in Ukraine with of the biggest collections of cold weapons in the county. Also there is a possibility of visiting the High Castle with a perfect view not only of the city but of its suburbs as well.

2. Underground Lviv
At the moment three different underground places a open for visitors. Besides archeological finds there is a possibility to visit underground city of 14th century.

The tour around the open-air museum "Shevchenkivskyi Hay" gives you an opportunity to feel the real couleur and authenticity of the Ukrainian village. The historic buildings from the different regions of Ukraine were successfully moved to the museum. The museum exposition estimates 124 architecture sites, which are joined into 54 estates. There are 4 exhibition halls, two of them have permanent exhibitions, including about 20000 of everyday-use objects and artware. The territory of the museum (60 ha) is divided into 6 ethnic zones. Each zone is a separate mini-village, which consists of 15-20 national architectural sites. The household and agricultural items, vehicles and craft tools are kept in housing and household buildings. These 6 mini-villages have the following names: "Boykivshchyna", "Lemkivshchyna", "Hutzulshchnya", "Bukovyna", "Podillia", "Lvivshchyna". Six of the 120 architectural sites are wooden churches. The oldest exhibit in the museum is the peasant house of 1749. There are also a forge, sawmill, fulling mill, watermill and windmill. Usually the excursion lasts for 2 hours and more.

4. Lychakiv cemetery

Lychakiv Cemetery is one of the most grandiose and significant European necropolises. It was founded in 1786 and since then only the outstanding, well-known and wealthy people have been buried there - culture, art and science figures as well the political and administrative elite of the capital of the Kingdom of Halychyna (Galicia) and Lodomeria. At the beginning of the 16th century the territory used to be taken for a cemetery of the unfortune. Today it is a museum and a burial-vault covering the area over 42 hectares. The museum contains sculptures and architectural buildings by the most well-known artists and sculptors: Hartman Witwer, the Schimser brothers, Paul Eutelle, G.Perrie, Yu. Markovskyy, I.Levynskyy, H.Kuznevych, S. Lytvynenko. Ye. Dzyndra and others. Such prominent figures of the Ukrainian culture as Markiyan Shashkevych, Volodymyr Barvinskyy, Ivan Franko, Solomiya Krushelnytska, Ivan Krypyakevych, Stanislav Lyudkevych, Volodymyr Ivasyuk, Anatoliy Kos-Anatolskyy, Ihor Bilozir, and others found their eternal rest place among the ancient trees and greenery. You can also find the burial vaults of some outstanding Polish figures, such as Artur Grottger, Maria Konopnicka, Gabriela Zapolska, Stepan Banach, Ludwig Rydyger, Karol Mikula, Seweryn Goszczynski. The Lychakiv Cemetery museum area includes the following eleven documented burial vaults: Ukrainian Halychan Army soldiers' memorial, Polish war burial vaults dating back to 1918-1919,the Glory Mound' Memorial (the Soviet Army soldiers), Polish burials of November rebellion (1831-1832), Polish burials of January rebellion (1863-1864), Sichovi Striltsi burials (field 82), "Lychakiv Military Cemetery" Memorial (the so-called "Mars Field", of the Soviet Army soldiers and the NKVD), burial monuments of the NKVD victims from Zamarstyniv prison (the so-called "Mars Field"), burial monuments of the NKVD victims from Lontskyi prison, burial vaults of children and adults - victims of the NKVD in the field 40 (three common graves), burial vaults of the NKVD victims in the field 76 (common grave). Other possible burial places of the Sichovi Striltsi, the NKVD victims and the victims of the totalitarian regimes repressions are being investigated. Restorations and tidying out of the prominent culture and science figures' burial monuments are constantly conducted at the territory of the museum. The area is trimmed to the European standards. Since 1991 the museum has been supervised by the Museum Academic Council and since 2001 the Scientific Department has been operating here.
