THE SOLOMIYA KRUSHELNYTSKA MUSICAL MEMORIAL MUSEUM

The Solomiya Krushelnytska Musical Memorial Museum and its branch The Stanislav Lyudkevych Memorial Museum are open daily, except Tuesday, from 10 a.m. till 6 p.m. There is a chamber hall for 20-25 persons where concerts, evenings, meetings, conferences, and presentations are held. It is possible to acquire museum publications and tapes.
The museum exposition depicts life and creative activity of an outstanding Ukrainian singer Solomiya Krushelnytska. You will find the museum in 23 S. Krushelnytska Str., on the 1st ground of the house Solomiya purchased in 1903 for her family. Here, in the nationalized house which ceased to be her property in November 1939 the great singer would live her last years in App. 4.

Seven exposition halls reproducing the early 20th century interiors display original pictures, playbills, concert programs, portraits, fragments of stage clothes, Krushelnytskas personal belongings. Museum funds count up to 15 thousand exhibits. In 1996 the museum opened its first branch
THE STANISLAV LYUDKEVYCH MEMORIAL MUSEUM

The Stanislav Lyudkevych Memorial Museum occupies the personal estate of the famous composer, musicologist, and pedagogue. The house was constructed according to the late 1950-ies typical design of living blocks (architect Nykolyn). Zenoviya Stunder, composers widow, ceded the house and Stanislav Lyudkevychs archive to the museum (18791979). Peculiarity of the museum lies in it interior which has been fully preserved in its original form. The front wall is decorated with a memorial inscription (authors Vasyl and Volodymyr Odrekhivskyy, 1991).

The Lviv Museum of the History of Religion is the only culture institution in Ukraine covering the history of world and national religions, life and activity of church organizations. The museum was founded in 1973 in the building of the former Dominican Roman Catholic church and monastery of the 17th18th centuries. The museum exposition consists of the following sections: Ancient Religion and Neoreligion, Judaism,
Origin of Christianity Orthodox Belief in Ukraine, Catholicism, Ukrainian Greek-Catholic Church, Protestant Belief, Islam, and Buddhism. The museum funds contain about 100 thousand exhibits, a specialized library in Religion Studies counting up to 50 thousand books.

The State Natural History Museum of the Ukrainian National Academy of Sciences in Lviv is one of the oldest and largest in terms of scientific nature studies collections in Europe. Museum collection contains over 500 thousand issues of value. The scientific library counts more than 70 thousand volumes.

The museum was opened in 1996 on the occasion of the fifth anniversary of the Ukrainian state independence. Its chief objective is organizing exhibitions of fine and applied arts, industry, scientific an technical achieve ments, achievements in technologies and design.

THE MUSEUM PRESERVE LYCHAKIV CEMETERY

Open daily, except Monday, from 9 a.m. till 5 p.m Information books and booklets available. The Lychakiv Cemetery is one of the most grandeur and lofty European Necropolises. Since its founding in 1786 only the richest and outstanding people were buried here culture, art and science workers, political and administrative elite of the capital of the Kingdom of Halychyna and Lodomeria. Today it is a museum covering the area of about 42 hectares and including statues and architectural constructions by prominent architects. The cemetery counts about 500 statues and headstones of high artistic value. It registers 11 documented burial places, among which you will find the Ukrainian Halychan Army soldier s memorial, polish military burial sites of 1918-1919 etc. The cemetery was awarded the status of the museum on November 25, 1991.
