August 17, 1969 – Lviv football team “Karpaty” won the USSR Football Cup
August 24, 1992 - a monument to Taras Shevchenko was opened in Lviv – over 300 thousand Lvivers and guests to the City witnessed the ceremony. 4 years later a 12-meter element of the monument, bronze “Wave of National Renascence” was added.
