As a budget option you can consider an overnight bus from Krakow or Warsaw.
Note: when looking for a flight or a train to Lviv you have to try different spellings (like “Lvov”, “Lviv”, “Lwow”). Because of it’s long and complicated history the city name has now a few versions of how it can be spelled.

Hallo there,
I’m going to travel by direct train Budapest-Lviv on 21st december, leaving 18:40. I know it’s not possible to book tickets for this route in advance. I was wondering if you know whether this train is usually fully booked and perhaps I’ll have to stay 1-2 days in Budapest waiting for a place on a carriage? Or will I quite likely be able to find the ticket for the same day?
Many Thanks,
Emilio
Dear Emilio,
You can buy the tickets on the day of departure, but it is risky a bit, as there could be no tickets available already. It is possible also to buy them beforehand. You can write onto our mail and we will give the detailed information: contact@inlviv.info.
Best regards,
Antonina
